Compiling Emacs takes to long

Compiling Emacs 26.3 from the repository takes much longer than
compiling from the tar ball offered.

Also compiling emacs 27.2 took a lot of time. An "gmake check" hangs
at "GEN lisp/autorevert-tests.log". I did see some failed tests.

Can I trust the editor in spite of it?

Thanks

Rod.

Compiled it on a Macbook, didn't use so much time.

Yes. From the tar ball, you're only compiling the C files (plus one or
two minor things), as the Lisp files are distributed as compiled as well
as as source. From the repository, you're also compiling all the Lisp
files.

Yes, failed tests are annoying, and shouldn't really escape into
releases. But they do.

Yes. For what it's worth I trust it.
